WOMEN'S NURSES.

Auckland, last night. The Women’s Christian Temperance Union has passed the following resolution unanimously, “ That the members desire to respectfully impress upon the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board the necessity of the institution of a separate building for maternity cases at the hospital, so that not only can patients from the country and elsewhere be sure of careful and skilful treatment, but that the nurses themselves may obtain the needful instruction and practice to fit them for their noble work.” They would also suggest that Maori girls “should be admitted as probationers when opportunity occurs, so that they may be enabled to go out as nurses amongst their own people.
