The Premier Explains.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night.
The Mayor has received a telegram from the Premier, stating that it has boon | pointed out that the opening paragraph of a telegram sent to the members of the Auckland district in reference to the sendoff to the Ninth Contingent is liable to misconstruction. The words by leaving everything to the last moment were inadvertently omitted, aud the paragraph should have read: “I hope the sarale thing will not occur in sending off the Ninth Contingent as occurred in the sendoff of the Auckland section of the L> hth Contingent by leaving everything to the last moment.” "Ultimately, the Pre mier’s telegram states, the send o * vour city was a very nice one, and m the limited time available everything possible was done.” -
