BAND CONTEST.
(Per Press Association.) New Plymouth, last night. The band contest opened to-day with' a, garden party in the Recreation Grounds. It was a brilliant success. Five thousand people were present. Massed bands (twelve) played the selection “ Hearts and Homes,” receiving hearty applause. The trio and quartette competition are proceeding to-night. The results are not available yet (11.59 p.m.)
