WANGANUI RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, last night Consistent rain fell throughout the night, and intermittent showers to-day, but not materially affecting the attendance at the races. The results were : Autumn Handicap : Queen’s Guard 1, Bowman 2, Heriot 3. Crusoe was scratched. Won easily by a length. Timo, 1.16 4-5. Divs., £2 4s 6d and £2 9s.

Second Hurdles: Royal Conqueror 1, Waiwera 2, Hautonga 3. All started. Stockade and Nea fell. Won by a head, after a slashing race. Time, 3.54 1-5. Div., £2 10s. Jackson Stakes, of 500 sovs: Royal Artillery, 9.6,1; Tercelet, 6.13, 2; Sunfish, 8.5, 3. Won hard held by ten lengths. The only starters. Time, 1.15 2-5. Div., £1 3s.

Hack Hurdles: Madman 1, Bones 2, Moreen 3. Romany Lad was scratched. Won easily at the finish. Time, 3.10 3-5. Div., £6 5s 6d. Welter : Liable 1, Halberdier 2, Frost 3. All started. A good race, but delayed at the post through fractiousness. Time, 1.45. Divs., £5 18s 6d and £1 3s. Wanganui Stakes : Tortulla 1, Military 2, Oracle 3. Beddington, Skobeleff also started. Won by a length. Time 2.9 4-5, div. £2 Is 6d.

Second Hack Race : Livonia 1, Shrapnel Shell 2, Laureate 3. All started. Won by half a length. Time 1.16 3-5, divs. £2 18s fid and £1 11s 6d.

Farewell Handicap : Halberdier 1, Calceolaria 2, Faugha-ballagh 3. Queen’s Guard and The Hempie were scratched. Won all tho way. Time 1.43, divs. £4 15s and £1 11s 6d.

The sum of £8877 was put through the machine, making £19,077 for the two days, as against ,£19,766 last year.
