By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, March 7. Tho Melbourne Cricket Club gave a farewell dinner to the English-Australian teams. Life membership badges of tho club were presented to nineteen members, and a purse of sovereigns to each professional member of the English team. Maelaren, responding, said after losing the toss four times running, the Australians had done remarkably well to win the test matches. He was quite satisfied with the play of his men. Maelaren, acknowledging a handsomely mounted portrait of himself presented by the trustees of the Melbourne Cricke't Ground, said that he was sorry his team won only three out of the ten big matches, but ventured to say that the team he intended to bring out next year would give a better account of themselves.
