ORANGE BLOSSOMS.
A wedding of much interest throughout the district took place at the Matawhoro Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, when Miss “ Ria ” Cameron, youngest daughter of Mr Ewen Cameron, of Toanga, Matawhero, was married to Mr John Briggs Clark, of Hawke’s Bay. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. G. Paterson, assisted by the Rev. Gardiner. The church was crowded with friends of the young couple, late arrivals being unable to get inside the church. The friends of the couple had gone to considerable trouble in decorating the church, and their work was very much admired. The bridesmaids were Misses Cameron (sister of bride), Rymer (of Napier), S. Skillicorn (cousin of bridegroom), and Clark (sister of the bridegroom), the groosmen being Messrs E. Skillicorn, W. Clark, and P. Clark. The bride, who looked charming, and was given away by her father, wore a handsome white silk dress, with pearl and chiffon trimmings, and wore a wreath of real orange blossoms and a handsome veil. Misses Cameron and Rymer wortGwhite silk dresses, with canary trimmings, and Misses Skillicorn and Clark white muslin, with blue trimmings. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a handsome gold watch and chain, and to the bridesmaids gold brooches. After the ceremony the party drove to the residence of the bride’s parents, where afternoon tea was partaken of, a large marquee being erected for the purpose, there being fully 200 guests present-. After tea was over photos of the bridal party and guests were taken by Mr J. Innes. About 5.43 the young couple left for town, accompanied by a large number of friends, receiving a very hearty send-off. They left on their honeymoon trip via Wanganui by the Burrumbeet, a large number of friends accompanying them to the steamer. After the young couple had left games were indulged in by the guests, and later on dancing and music was indulged in till shortly before 12, when the guests wended their way homewards. Tho presents received by Mr and Mrs Clark were both numerous and costly.
A pleasant social evening was spent at the residence of Mr Dunne, Matawhero, on Thursday, February 27th, when ;Mr Tod Witty, on behalf of the Toanga picnic party, presented Miss Ria Cameron with a platform rocker, bamboo corner whatnot, and bamboo flower stand, on the occasion of her approaching marriage. In making the presentation Mr Witty referred to the leading part Miss Cameron had taken in all their social gatherings, and .- ■ M high estimation in which she was held ! j members of the party, and asked her to accept the presents as a slight token of esteem, and wishing her and her husband every happiness and prosperity in their new life. Mr J. Clark modestly ’ replied on behalf of Miss Cameron, thanking them for the presents and their kind wishes. The evening was spent in games, i music, and dancing, and the proceedings closed shortly after 11 with the singing of “ Auld LaDg Syne,” cheers being given for Mr and the Misses Dunne. ,
