V.R.C. MEETING. Ay telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, March 3. Aurous has been an absentee since the Newmarket Handicap, and it is reported will bo a non-starter for the Australian Cup. Blue Metal went eight furlongs in 1.49. Revenue went eight on the tan in 1.531, Haymaker eight in 1.481, Barbarossa eight on the tan in 1.54. Grasspan and Hoopiron went the last five out of eight furlongs in 1.81-. (Received 3 p.m.) Aurous was scratched for the Australian Cup at 11.10. Revenue is a strong favorite. (Received 12.52 a.m., March 4.) Melbourne, March 8. There was drizzling rain all day, rendering the going heavy for to-morrow. On the calling of tho card Revenue was backed for £I2OO at 5 to 4 ; Flagship, about the same amount, at 7’s and 6’s, finishing at 11 to 2 ; Flintlock, £I6OO at ll’s, whiehis on offer; Felicitous, £IOOO as 15’s ; Grasspan, B’s offered. The Autumn meeting of tho Thames Jockey Club was held to day. There was a good attendance and interesting racing. Following are the results: — Maiden Plato : Geraldine 1, Valedictory 2, Mount Zeehan 3. Time 1.19 4-5, div. £6 3s, 10s tickets. Hurdles : Princess of Thule 1, Lightning 2, Master Mahoe 8. A splendid race. Time 4.3, div. £1
Miners’ Union Handicap : Highlander 1, Zuleika 2, Belfast 8. A good race home. Won easily in the straight. Time 1.46 2.5, div. 18s. Pony Handicap : Yarra 1, Repetition 2, Bavaria 3. Time 1.21 1-5, div. £1 Is. Steeplechase: Stockman was the only one to finish. Time 5.51 1-5, div. £1 17s.
Railway Handicap : Goetzir 1, Hector 2, Zuleika 3. Won easily. 'Time 1.32, div. 19s.
Hack Handicap : Miss Lottie 1, Mount Zeehan 2, Dan McCarthy 3. Time 1.20 div. £1 3s.
Final Handicap: Hector 1, Klondyke 2, liohia 3. A good finish. During the race several horses fell, and two riders named Heaps and Ross were hurt. The former had the small bones of one leg broken, and Ross sustained injuries to his head. Both are progressing favorably. Time 1.44 4 5, div. 19s.
