WELLINGTON NEWS.

TREATMENT <JF IANCER CASES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officer, has forwarded his report to the Minister for Public Health on the proposal which has been before a number of Hospital Boards in the colony to establish a special hospital for the treatment of cancer. The report says that while such an establishment would certainly be of great use in the treatment of such eases, as matters now stand victims receive just as careful treatment as they would in any special hospital. Only one cancer hospital could be erected, as the number of eases of the disease would not warrant putting up of more. This would lead to patients having to leave their homes and friends entirely to obtain treatment. In Or. Mason’s opinion all ends which some Boards have in view, namely, that more than ordinary attention should bo given to the consideration and treatment of this awful disease, can be obtained by continuing '.lie reception of such eases by the present Hospital and proceeding at once with the erection of a laboratory where the true scientific side of the disease can be studied and the facts in relation to the disease used to help the sufferers. DREDGING RETURNS. The Hauhait dredge returns are Ifioz 2dwt for 84 hours, and the Takaka Sluicing Company 09oz for a fortnight.
