BOWLING.
MARRIED V. SINGLE. One of the most interesting bowling matches played on the Gisborne green for some months took place yesterday afternoon, when a contest between the married and single members of the club was arranged. The gamo was a three-rink one, and after the teams had been selected it looked on paper as though the married men would secure an easy victory. In the first part of the game the Benedicts went away with a good lead, but towards the middle of the game the bachelors came on terms with their opponents, and a good finish saw tbe single men win with half-a-dozen points to their credit, the scores being:— Makkied Single. Wallace Nicholas Ambridge Eure Quigley E. Pettie Hennessy (skip) 19 Sidebottom (skp) 31 Robinson Seymour Matthewson A. W. Adair Nasmith C. Adair Massey (skip) 20 Gaudin (skip) 16 Orr Score W. Pettie Rosie McGowan Lewis Ponsford (skip) 26 Hoyte (skip) 23 Total ... 65 VO In the second game of eleven heads the married men had half a dozen points to the good of their opponents, the scores being : Sidebottom 13, Hennessy 12, Gaudin 7, Massey 12, Hoyte 10, Ponsford 12. A return match has been fixed for Thursday next, and a good game should result.
