AUCKLAND NEWS.
[By Telegraph-—. Press Association.] Auckland, last night. A private letter received in Auckland from Sir Hector MacDonald refers to the readiness with which New Zealanders have volunteered for Imperial service. He writes:— “I see year boys responded grandly to the further call for volunteers for South Africa. I hope you will get them all back again. You deserve good luck.” Mr Humphrey Uevkloy, of Fiji, left for that group by the T.tviuui to-day, to collect further documentary evidence in connection with the treatment of Fijians, and will return about the rich prox., leaving shortly after wauls for England, where he will make representations to the Colonial Secretary. With the view of celebrating the jubilee of the discovery of gold in New Zealand, it hits been proposed to hold a mining and industrial exhibition in Coromandel.
