TROPICAL DELUGE,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, last night. This afternoon, for about an hour, this town was under a tropical deluge such as is raro so far south. It commenced with a thunderstorm, not violent but long continued, and in ninety minutes three inches of rain fell. Tho pent-up water on tho roofs did a good deal of damage to goods in shops and warehouses, while tho over-flow from gutters and back yards got into cellars and caused unusual activity among their owners. “ I'LUGGEE BILL.” Bill Martin, the famous cyclist, arrived by tho Talune to-day, and goes to Dunedin to-morrow.
