A small meeting of tho Peace and Arbitration Association authorised Messrs Cbanning, T. Shaw, and 11. AYilson, members of tho House of Commons, to petition King Edward in tho interests of peace in South Africa, and to save the life of Kruitzingcr if sentenced to death. Chris Botha and Reitz, with eight hundred men, are south of Brauwkop. The Boers practically hold undisputed possession of the country north of tho Delagoa line, and are harvesting all their crops. The Times says the English troops arc insufficient to deal with the wholo country and suppress tho enemy. CASUALTIES TO NEAY ZEALANDERS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Fob. 25. Seventh New Zealanders: Private John Kirkwood lias been killed at Rierspruit, and Corporal John Ashton was slightly wounded. War Office correction : Private AValtor R. Davis, of the Seventh New Zoalandors, died of wounds at Charlestown. Deaths from enteric arc: Privates Basil and Steanhans, of tho Sixth-Now Zealanders, at Charlestown ; John H. AVright, of the Seventh Now Zealanders, at- Hcilbron.
[By Xclegrapti—Press Association.] AVellington, last night. Tho Governor has received a cablegram from the Casualty Department, Capetown, stating that 3665 B. Stephens, of the Sixth New Zealand Contingent, died from enteric at Charlestown on tho 19th inst.; 4582 J. H. AVright, of the Seventh New Zealand Mounted Infantry, died of enteric at Heilbron.
