Sib,— l see the Poverty Bay Turf Club have imported the usual band from Italy to discourse sweet music, instead of engaging one of our local bands to soothe ;he savage breasts of those who attend our race meetings. This, I think, is a ittle off, considering,that our local bands

(the members of which are all townspeople) ere only too happy to turn out and play, when they can get sufficient inducement to do so. It is, in my opinion, a very great slight on our local musicians to ignore them, and import from Italy a oand for the races.
