Since the Duke and Duchess of York visited Rotorua no other guide than the dark-eyed, dulcet-voiced Maggie Papakura, who showed the Duke himself around, has had a show with the
tourist-- Eve’ yone has insisted on being guided by Maggie, and being beguiled "by her languishing glances, and entertu'ned with her rosy description of the thermal sights, and her occasional pointed anecdote, told in that delightfully pleasing style of her own. But just now there is despair amongst the tourists. Maggie is not available as a guide, bronchitis and pleurisy .having laid their hands heavily upon her, and made an invalid of her. Apart from thi illness itself, this is a serious matt**: for Maggie Papakura, I for it lifts stopped the inflow of her income, which was a no inconsiderable one for a guide. By the way, Maggie is a thrifty financier, and, unlike her own people, cuiefully banks her earnings.
