Vice-Admiral Tirpitz, German Minister ior the Navy, speaking in the Reichstag, said it was impossible to postpone the Bill of 1900, commissioning additional ships. The estimated yearly increase of naval expenditure after 1906 would be eight million, instead of six million marks, ; rovided in the Navy Bill of 1900. A discussion which took place elicited the fact of Germany’s intention to place four battleships, additional cruisers, and gunboats on the China station. The Kaiser ordered the police to suppress Christian Scientists’ meetings. H.M S. Anphitrite has been refloated.
