STOCK SALES.

MESSRS WILLIAMS AND KETTLE’S REPORT. The stock sale held at Matawhero on Thursday by Messrs Williams and Kettle and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company attracted a large attendance, Mr A. F. Kennedy officiated as auctioneer for Messrs Williams and Kettle, and the firm report as follows We yarded from 4000 to 5000 sheep, and some 200 head of cattle. Consequent on the dry weather of the last week or so, prices were easier than at the previous sale. The stock offered, generally, was not of the very best, and it is not expected that there will be any really good ewes in until the next sale, on the 28th. A nice line of 2-tooth ewes and wethers made 9s; 4 and 6tooth made 8s ; old ewes, from 2s 6d to os 6d. Lambs of fair quality brought up to 5s 6d, whilst cull lambs sold as low as 2s. Bidding for cattle was very dull, and many of the lines were passed under the hammer. Prices were a shade easier than at our last sale, but most of the best lines were quitted at the reserves after the sale was over,

MESSES DALGETY AND CO. Messrs Dalgety and Co. will hold their next stock sale at Makaraka saleyards on Monday, the 17th inst., commencing at one o’clock. Present entries include 20 two- to three-year-old steers, 400 fullmouth cross-bred ewes, and 30 four and six tooth Lincoln rams. Further entries are invited. Mr G. E. Eliott will conduct the sale.

WAERENGA-A-HIKA SALES. The monthly stock sale held at Waerenga-a-kika by Messrs Wyllie and Mason and Common, Shelton and Co. will take place on Monday, and should attract a large attendance. Messrs Wyllie and Mason’s entries include 50 head of cattle, and several hundred sheep. A number of pure Lincoln rams will bo offered on account of Messrs A. McKenzie and C. J. Crago. Mr G. K. Wyllie will act as auctioneer. Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. have a largo entry of sheep and cattle for the sale, including a number of special lines. Some fine Lincoln rams will bo ottered on account of Messrs W. W. Smith and C Cra<m. Over a hundred head of cattle consisting of fat bullocks, two and three year old steers and a number of first-class heifers will also bo offered. Mr J. Kells will conduct the sale. The yearly sale of stock held at those yards by Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., and Wyllie and Mason will take place on Tuesday next, the 11th ins tPresent entries include 8,500 sheep, ot good sorts. It is anticipated that there will be a large attendance of buyers. The above-mentioned firms will hold a horse sale at the Waerenga-a-hika yards | on Friday next, for which a large number I of entries have already been received.
