Beefton, last night. At the annual meeting of the Westland Trades and Labor Council a resolution was passed extolling the British Government on the conduct of the war. The Workers’ Compensation Act, Employers’ Liability Act, and Arbitration and Conciliation Act were discussed, and while admitting that they had conferred a great benefit upon workers, the Council considered there were some clauses in the acts which could be amended with great advantage, especially in the direction of retaining Conciliation Boards as provided in the original Act. With reference to section 22 of the Workers’ Compensation Act, the delegates were of opinion that illegitimates should have all the rights of legitimate persons, and in every- death from accident those dependent on such persons should have the right to recover • also that clauses 216 and 217 0 f the Mining Act and 52 and 53 of the Coal Mines Act, which were repealed by the Workers’ Compensation Act, be re enacted. This is regarded as important' as it seriously affects claimants for damages in case of accidents,
