CHARGE OF EMBEZZLEMENT.

(Special to Times.; Auckland, last night.

Hugh McLeod, 8.A., editor of the Auckland Sporting Be view, was charged at the Police Court this morning with the embezzlement of one hundred pounds. Commission was given to the accused to distribute the money among the local bookmakers for a horse named Hinemoa at the trotting meeting last October. He was successful in getting it on. The horse won and paid £'6ol. McLeod collected the money, but the unfortunate party received nothing. McLeod is supposed to have left the colony.
