(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The list o' applicants for <hc Welling! on sect'-n of the Ninth Contin'/eiil has closed with a total of 804 for I2tl placer The Government have received something like 500 applications for commissions in the Ninth Coin.ngent. WANGANUI, last night. The final selection of the Wanganui quota of 25 for the Ninth Contingent was made last evening. There were 310 applieat'ons. The men selected are really a good lot, equal to any sent from here, and include five of the returned contingenters, 12 mounted troopers, and six infantry volunteers. They leave for Auckland on Tuesday. HOKITIKA, last night. The I-lokitika section of the Ninth Contingent left by this aEternoon’s train, and were farewelled by a large gathering. The Mayor delivered a short address. Hearty cheers were given.
