WELLINGTON SPECIAL.
[ Special to Times. | Wellington, last night. The Benevolent Institution Trustees propose to spend £l2O on fire escapes for the Benevolent Home, which is at present inadequately equipped in that direction. Nelson’s effort to secure the Victoria University College for itself by offering it a site of six acres in proximity to the present Nelson College will probably have the effect of hurrying on negotiations between the Wellington City Council and the Wellington College Governors for an exchange of land for a site on which to place the college. The demand for the foot-warmers imported by the Railway Department was very great last winter, and an order for an additional supply, to reach the colony about two months hence, has been sent to London.
