There was a good attendance ai the annual ram fair at Hastings yesterday, but bidding was very poor, both for flocks and studs. The entries totalled 21G2 (locks and 108 studs. The highest price obtained for studs was 21 gs, for a Lincoln ram sent by I!, and W. Raynor, Af Taralahi ; whilst Gigs was the highest obtained for /locks.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. Limited, re port :—“ We held first stock sale it

Poverty Bay at Makaraka yesterday, when we offered 180 head of cattle and GOO sheep to a good attendance of local buyers. Sheep were dull of sale, would-be purchasers being unable to set a value on the stock offered. A line of good 2-tooth ewes and wethers went begging at 9s, and to our mind were cheap at that figure. Cattle sold briskly under the hammer, dairy stock being in particular request. We cleared our catalogue at satisfactory prices. We quote Cattle : Weaners, 25s for inferior to £2 for good ; extra well-grown, £2 lis ; 8 to 12 months steers, £2 7s ; yearling steers, to £3 ; 2-year steers, £3 15s ; 2 A year steers £4 ; 3-year steers, £4 15s ; heifers, 12 to 18 months, £3 2s Gd ; 31-year, £4 ; cows ill profit, £4 2s Gd’to £7 12s Gd. Siicep : Inferior 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 7s lOd. We hold our next sale on Wednesday, February 19, at Makaraka, at 1 p.m.
