At Penrith (N.S.W.) a man was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for attempted suicide. First he had attempted to take bis life by forcing one end of a pick down his throat. A constable found him in the railway yard at Springwood, and the man endeavored to throw himself before the engine of an approaching train. On the vay to the lock-up he produced * ’** nail from his pocker. .. .arge CoPsideraH'” ~ unu inflicted a wound in his neck, and cuting the night, while in his cell, he was found with a rope, made out of ui.s blanket, round his neck, and trying to get the other end through the window btu's to bang bimseji.
