BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

THE HODDART-PARKER CUP. GISBORNE DEFEATED IN SEMIFINAL. [Special to Times.| Wellington, last night. At the Bowling Tournament to-day, the first four rounds tor the HuddartParker Cup were played. Coleman's team easily defeated Bluff Hill in the first round, and in the second round beat New Plymouth by 22 to 12. The third game was against Thorndon, and produced a great game, but Gisborne succeeded in winning by 22 to 13, and had the honor of playiog in the semi-final. In the latter, Gisborne met Newtown after that club had defeated Wellington - by 22 to 14. Gisborne’s game against Newtown was full of interest, and the issue remained in doubt until the 20th. head, when the Wellington team got ip four, and finally won by 24 to 18. - "j-L McGowan’s rink won the match in the first round, but were badly defeated in the second.

Of tbe local men, Massey showed good form in the semi final match. Gaudin was a bit off. Ponsford and Coleman were hardly at their best, and were handicapped through the game being played on a damp green in the shade. The Gisborne representatives travel overland on Friday, and reach home by the Zealandia on Saturday morning. THE COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS’ CUP. PALMERSTON THE WINNERS.

[By Telegraph—Press Association.] I Wellington, last night. In the bowling tournament play for the Hudaart-Parker Cup was continued with the following results : SECOND ROUND. Victoria 21 beat Waverley 16, Thorndon 18 beat .Wellington 17, Napier 25 beat Ponsonby (Littler) 18, Gisborne (II C . Gowan) 26 beat Waverly 12, Palmerston 24 beat Ponsonby (Newell) 17, Gisborne (Coleman) 22 beat New Plymouth 12 Newtown 29 beat Auckland 21.

THIRD ROUND. Gisborne (Coleman) 22 beat Thorndon 13, Newtown 24 beat Wellington 14, Napier 27 beat Gisborne (McGowan) lo', Palmerston 33 beat Wellington 17. In one of the matches for the semifinal Newtown 24 beat Gisborne (Coleman) 17. To-morrow- the semi-final between Palmerston and Napier will be played. The winners have to play Newtown. The semi-final for the Commercial Travellers* Club trophy resulted:— Palmerston 21 beat Ponsonby 9, Wanganui 19 beat Feilding 9. In the final Palmerston (Mowlen) 19 beat Wanganui (Perrett) 7. The Palmerston bowling teams decided not to play out the match with Wellinoton for second place in the bowling tournament, but to content themselvea with third position.
