AUCKLAND ANNIVERSARY.

THE CELEBRATIONS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. To-day was observed as a close holiday, being Anniversary Day. The principal attractions were the regatta and Takapuna races. The regatta was a great success and was largely attended, the Taviuni being the flagship. There was a fine breeze for the sailing events, but the Eea was too lumpy for the rowing races, which had to be postponed. The open yacht race was won by the Moana, with the Ida second, and the Melis third. The Speedwell won the 25ft linear ratine, Ulrich coming second. The Devonport Navals won the naval cutter race. Two crews from the Ringarooma and one from the Lizard competed in the man-of-war race, the Lizard’s crew winning.
