I'HomnmoN LECTURE,

The Rev. I’’. W. Isitt gave a lecture in tho schoolroom, Morcre, on Tuesday evening, there boing a fair attendance. Mr Shaw presided, and introduced the speaker, who was listened to with much attention. Several questions were asked, and received satisfactory replies. On the motion of Mr Mclntyre, a unanimous vote of thanks was accorded Mr Isitt for his ablo address.

JHJSH FIRES,

During tho past week or ten days fine weather has prevailed here, and the sottiers who had felled bush to burn took advantage of the dry weather, and bush fires are to bo seen in various directions.

CONCERT

A very successful concert took place in the school-room, Morore, ou Wednesday evening, in aid of the funds of St. John’s Church. There was a good attendance. The Rev. W. Baeburn presided. The proceedings commenced by those present singing the hymn, “ All People that on Barth do Dwell.” The following is the programme, and many of the items were encored Pianoforte duet, “ Qui Vivi,” by Misses L. and O. Reynolds ; song, “ Maid of Athenis,” Mr E. Coop ; recitation, “ A Tale of the Australian Drought,” Mr Sloan ; gleo, “ The Fisherman,” Mesdamo3 Tait, Iteynolds (2), and Messrs Coop and J. Reynolds ; duet, “ The Wind and the Harp,” Mesdames Sloan and Anderson ; song, “ Kathleen Mavourneen,” ivfrs Tait ; pianoforte solo, “ Maiden’s Prayer,” Miss Watt ; song, “ Juanita,” Mr W. Cooper ; humorous reading, Mr D. Anderson ; song, “ The Valley by the Sea,” Mrs Livingstone ; instrumental trio, piano and violins, “ Dream Memories,” Mrs Tait, Miss Siddles, and Mr M. Shaw ; duet, “The Minute Gun at Sea,” Mr and Mrs Sloan ; song, “ Because I Love You,” Mr W. Coop ; song, “ I Trust Y 7 ou Still,” Mr E. Coop ; recitation, Mr A. Anderson; song, sacred selection, Mrs Anderson; song, “ Clementine,” Mr Jefferson ; song, “ Whisper and I Shall Hear,” Mrs Tait; pianoforte solo, “ Birds in the Wood,” Miss Livingstone ; glee, “ Meeting and Parting,” Mesdames Tait, Reynolds (2), Messrs Coop and J. Reynolds. The Rev. F. W. Isitt gave a short and interesting speech. At the close of the concert, supper, provided by the ladies of the district, was handed round and much appreciated. The supper table was presided over by Mesdames Shaw and Mclntyre. The Rev W. Raeburn proposed a vote of thanks to all those who had assisted to make the affair a success. Mrs Tait kindly lent her piano for the occasion.
