TAKAPUNA RACES
(Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, last night. The Takapuna Jockey Club's summer meeting commences to-morrow. The racing should he interesting. There are nine left in the Maiden. On paper Donnybrook reads the best to me, and next to that gelding I like Repetition. The Calliope Handicap mav be won by Austerlitz- Ihe Zealandia Handicap, in which there will likely he a big field, looks open. I fancy St Olga, Lady Avon, and Jewellery. The Takapuna Cup will, I think, be won by Hosella, and of the others Blue Jacket may possibly he the hardest to heat. In the Hack Race a surprise may come. Lady ,So lilt, Cressy, La Polish, Miss Lottie and Mechanic have done some pleasing gallops at Ellerslie. Lady Soult a.nd Cressy may take most heating. The Pony ’ Race is regarded as very open. Sentinel and Girton Girl are a likely pair to run well. The Taranaki pony Seaspray is said to he more than useful. Scotty and Goldweb read as well as any in the Stewards Handicap.
