Argentine Competition.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Jan. 23. The representatives of the meat export trade consider the admission of the Argentine into contracts for tho army in South Africa will have a bad effect in Australia. One says that it means that very little Australian will eventually be used, because the quality of the Argentine is higher, and can be supplied at less cost. Another says the worse outcome will be the establishment of regular lines of steamers between South America and South Africa, which, apart from the meat trade, would be impossible.
