Adelaida, Jan. 20. The cricket match was resumed to-day, there being bright, sultry weather. Thero was an attendance of eight thousand. The wicket was excellent.

Barnes was unable to play, being in hod owing to a strained left knee received while howling on Saturday. Braund and Gunn resumed bowling. Tho early play was steady. When at ninety-two, llill was missed in the slips by Jones off Gunn. The next two balls gave him six, but on facing Braund tho left-hander lifted the ball to long-on. Tyldesley, stepping two feet up the sloping asphalt cycling track, effected a brilliant catch.

Hill was batting for two hours aud forty-two minutes, giving only onechanco. His score included twelve fours. Tho third wicket fell for 197. Gregory opened with a late out for four. When at thirty-nine Duff was missod by McLarou at cover-slip off Gunn, but it was not costly, as two overs lator he was given out leg before, batting two hours and a half. He hit eight fours. Tho fourth wicket fell for 229. In twenty-five minutes prior to lunchoon play was slow, only uineteon runs boiug made. The scores at the adjournment stood Gregory 30, Armstrong 7, total 248. Howell and Noble took the score to 300 before the former wus smartly caught in the slips, With only seven runs added, a beautiful ball from Gunn found Noble’s wicket. Kolly and McLeod stayed a littlo while, but the irresistiblo Gunn bowled tho latter with a bailer. Gunn to-day got five wickets for 58 runs. He kept a splendid loDgth, and was always difficult. The fielding was brilliant. Lilloy allowod only two byes. Rain is threatening. The Englishmen began thoir socond innings with Maelaren aud Hayward playing against the bowling of Howell and Noble. Tho captain soon scored 10 before his partner scored, and kept well ahead, making an occasional four, though Howell doubled him.

The first hour’s play yielded 62. Trumble relieved Howell, and a couplo of overs lator Armstrong relieved Noble. At 80 Trumble beat Maelaren with a goodlength ball, after batting eighty minutes in chanceless stylo. Hayward and Tyldesley played out to time, the former showing faultless batting for a hundred minutes.
