SERMON BY BISHOP LENIHAN.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) j Auckland, last night. Bishop Lenihan preached last evening in St. Patrick’s Cathedral on the subject of mixed marriages, and enjoined on his people the rigid necessity of conforming to the Roman Catholic Chm-chea' command in this respect. He gave instances where several generations in family circules had absolutely lost the faith through mixed marriages. Referring to a cablegram in reference to a decree to be read in Roman Catholic Churches throughout tire Commooweilth, the Bishop stated that this decree bad been formulated 16 years ago in Sydney at a conference at which the Bishops of Australasia had assisted, and in every church and chapel in Australia and New Zealand it had been read every year since that time. The Bishop read copious extracts from the decree.
