ROWING.

POVEBTY BAY BOWING CLUB,

Ox Saturday evening the first heat of the Poverty Bay Bowing Club’s double sculling handicap was rowed, the course being from Warren’s jetty to tho shed, about three-quarters of a mile. Tho competing crews wore : J. Parker and A. Webb (6sec), \ an d G. Petersen and H.Burns (18sec). On being started the latter crow made the most of their handicap, and had a lead of a length at the footbridge. On passing the bathing shed both crews were level, and from this point to the finish an exciting race resulted in Parker and Webb winning by half a length. The seeond heat will be rowed this morning at six o’clock, between Williams and McGovern (3sec) and Arch. Kirk and H. Smith (ssec). This should be a close Two more heats will be rowed off this evening, the crews leaving the shed at 5 o’clock sharp.
