Tho first incident was a let off of Braund by McLeod at mid on, off Trumblo’B bowling, when he had made 44. Tho fieldsmen continued to crowd around Quaifo. At last he touched the / ball, which the wicket-keeper held. He had played a ehancoless innings for two hours and 40 minutes. He hit six fours. The parnership added 108. Jones had a brief life. He saw the third century go up, tho outcome of five hours and twenty-fivo minutes’ batting. With two added ho was run out by Braund, who bolted for a third run without being called. Gunn began nicely, but Braund hesitated, and there was cautious play. With 320 passed thoro was a double change of bowling, McLeod and Armstrong taking the ball. Since the resurntion of play Trumblo bowled sixteen overs for twenty-one runs. When the luncheon adjournment was takon tho total was 330, Braund, 62 ; Gunn, 15. Only sixty runs wore made in ninoty minutes. Trumblo and Howoll continued bowling. Off the last ball of tho latter's second over Trumble missed an easy chance from Braund, whose score was then 62. Braund became more vigorous, especi* ally at the expense of Howell, twice in one over cutting him to the boundary. Noble replaced Howell at 363. Braund lifted one from Trumblo into tho long-fiold, and tho ball foil just out of Armstrong’s reach. Two moro hits and the Somorset man was top scorer. With 371 up, Noble bowled Gunn, who played a steady innings. A fine fiver off Trumblo and a stolen run completed Braund’s century in two hours and a-half. Blythe was easily caught at short square-leg by Hill, who ended tho innings with an extraordinary catch, running from square-leg and catching the ball with his back turned to the wicket.

Braund was batting three hours and forty minutes. Ho gave only the two chances mentioned. He began slowly, but in tho lattor part of his innings made brilliant hits, including one five and ten fours. Noblo, who was kept off till lato owing to a strained groin, finished with thirtyfive balls, three maidens, soven runs, and three wickets. Trumblo kept a splondid length, but did not look dangerous. Kelly, though lame, kopt tho wickets well. Gregory and Hill fielded brilliantly. Tho innings lasted six hours thirty-fivo minutes. Tho Australians then wont in for their first innings. Darling was caught in tho slips off Blythe’s first ball, aftor he had scored a sing'o from Barnes. Hill and Trumper gave a dashing display, scoring thirty-sovon in 20 minutes. Braund replaced Blythe. Barnes having a ricked log, he had to leave the field, and Blythe took tho ball.

Hill had reached sixty in an hour at Braund’s oxponse. Gunn bowled and Blythe changed ends. That steadied tho scoring. Hill brought the hundred up for seventyeight minutes’ play. The scoring continued rapid, the batsmen doing sharp running. Trumper put on fifty in an hour and ahalf. When he had scored sixty-five Trumper lost his wicket through overeagerness and trying an impossible run. He was batting for an hour and threequarters, playing a faultless innings. He —--made eight fours. The .socond wicket put on 138. Tho partnership gave tho best batting seen in Adelaide for a yoar. Hill and Duff played out to time.
