WELLINGTON SPECIAL.

THE BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

(Special to Times.) Wellington, last night.

Gisborne was in evidence this morning on tho Wellington Bowling Green, and thokindiy offices of tho Secretary through Mr Mentiplay) our teams were able to have a practice match. Upon consideration, Coleman decided to try Wallace in the lead, Batham playing second, and Gaudin third. The change proved beneiicial, both as regards Wallaeo and Batham, and the result was satisfactory, as Coleman’s team defeated Pou3ford’s by 2'J points to 26. They led throughout on tho iifth lead, having 11 to 5, and on the fourteenth 26 to 11.

A second game was played in tho afternoon, and Coleman’s team inado no game of it, winning by the substantial margin of 31 to 11. The winning quartette ail Bhowed good form. In addition to tho two rinks, tho President (Mr Pottie) and Messrs Witty and Humphreys were in attendance at tho green. Mr Price, formerly of Gisborne, was aLo present. The members were welcomed by soveral members of the Wellington Club, and tho green placed at their disposal, Tho Wellington green is very good, and if the fine woather continues is certain to becomo keener. In the few heads played by the local teams this evening against Weliiugton, Gisborne were beaten. A Dunedin rink is to play Coleman to-morrow morning, and, as this team in question this evening beat Ballinger's crack Wellington toam by 25 to 5, a good lino as to Gisborno’s chanco in the inter-club contest should be obtained. Tho Auckland teams arrive this evening. Napier, Bluff Hill, and Hastings teams arrive to-morrow.
