i>y i'e.- graph—Press Association—Copyright London, Jan. 14. Lord Kitchener’s weekly report- shows that 20 Boers were killed, 9 wounded, 203 taken prisoners, and 93 surrendered. L’he British Government purchase 80,000 acres of land at Ficksburg, 45,000 at Thabanchu, and more elsewhere in tho Orange Colony, and are allotting farms. London, Jan. 15. General Bruce Hamilton wires that ho was marching when Colonel Wing reported a large concentration on the very spot on which he encamped on the previous night. He retraced his steps, but tiie Boers had unfortunately quitted. A roadside farm gave the alarm. Reaching Knapdaar he saw the enemy trekking three miles distant. Botha’s Capo cart, a little beyond, was chased for seven miles, when the British horses were exhausted. They saw four hundred Boors. Tho British casualties were slight. Thirtythree Boers were captured. ° Muller, a German, commands Do \\ et s guns. Do Wet doubling, eluded tho pursuit of the drivers. Witkopjes is near Vrede. A portion of his followers have been driven to the hills at South Heilbron.
