Chicago, Nov. 80. The directors of the Reformatory at Pontiac, where an old-fashioned and barbarous pillory has been unearthed, have begun an investigation into the mediaeval mode of punishing youth in the institution. The latest victim is Charles Miller, ten years old, who, for whispering in school, was forced to stand for twenty hours at a stretch in the pillory -nk- ten minutes intermission, when hiTwas fed with breau 'vater. The pillory is a door with holes in the upper panel through which the prisoner puts his hands. A chain is attacned to the wrists to keep them in place.
