STOCK SALES.

Ax Waerenga-a-hika yesterday Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Messrs Wyllie and Mason held their monthly stock sales/ Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., for whom Mr J. B. Kells officiated as auctioneer, report : “ We held our monthly stock sale to-day. There was a good attendance. We yarded 120 head of cattle. Buyers were again inclined to caution in bidding, and many lots were passed, nearly all, however, being sold afterwards at rates equal to those ruling at recent sales. We sold 80 head, the following being the prices : One springing cow i£6 ss; 37 3-year-olds, £5 10s; 4 fat bullocks, i£6 ss; 9 bullocks, nearly fat, ; 4 3-year-old steers, £5 5s ; 16 3-year-old steers, £5 ; 6 2-year-old steers, £4. We passed in the .following lots : 12 24-year-old steers, £4 5s ; 14 18-month-old ditto, £3 ss; 11 Jersey, yearling steers, £2. No sheep were offered. Our next sale takes place on Wednesday, February sth.”

The luncheon for the occasion was supplied by Host O’Connell, in his usual excellent style.
