POVERTY BAY ROWING C-LUB. On Saturday evening tho second heat of tho Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s trial fours was rowed between crews stroked by J. Poole and J. Smith. The crews were sent away to an evon start, and kept together for half-a-mile, when Smith’s crew began to gradually forge ahead, and when the Gasworks corner was reached had an advantage of a length, and despito tho efforts of Poole’s crew, maintained their load and won a good race by a length. This evening R. Jones’ and Arch. Kirk's crew* meet, and a close race should

result. The following crews have been selected for the double sculling handicaps, for which Mr D. West has presented a h andsome pnir of carved walking sticks. The races are to be rowed in a month’s time, and tho course will be three-quarters of a mile Alf. Poole (stroke), M. McLeod (bow); B. Williams, F. McGovern; J. Poole, C. Boyle ; R. Kellctt, T. Nicholson; A. W. Kirk, W. Lewis; J. Newton, B. Maynard; H. Burns, G. Peterson; J. Parker, A. Webb ; J. Smith, A. Poole ; A. Kirk, H. Smith ; J. Webb, L. Tate; R. Jones, Jarmon ; C. Kirk, B. Power; F. Clark, B. Bolt. GISBORNE ROWING CLUB. Tho final of the Gisborne Rowing Club's trial fours was rowed on Saturday evening, between crews stroked by L. Sherrifl and W. Harding. The race was rowed over the mile course, and after a splendid struggle resulted in favor of Sherrifl s crew by half a length.
