AUCKLAND WINS THE BANNER FOR SIXTH TIME.

The Thirteenth Annual New Zealand Athletic Association Championship Meeting resulted in Auckland winning the banner for the sixth time by u substantial majority of points, the scores being: Auckland ... points Canterbury ... 30£ points Wellington ... 10 points Dunedin ... 3 points

The weather was fine when the sports commenced, but the attendance was moderate. A shower at about three o’clock made the track heavy. Smith bad easy victories in the hurdle events, and Simpson romped over his fields in' the one-mile and three-mile races. The standards were beaten in the 100yds, half-mile, walks, high jump, putting the weight, 120yds hurdles, polo jump, 410yds hurdles. No records wore broken. The Australian athletes were present during the meeting. The following are the results: — 100 Yards : First heat—Smith 1, Keating 2, Bainbridge 3. Won by a yard. Time, 10 3-ssec. Second heat—Hcald 1, Webster 2, Marriott 3. Won by half a yar3. Time, 10-2-nsee. Final—Smith 1, Heald 2, Webster 3. Won by half a yard, Webster being close up third. Time, 10 l-ssec. Half-mile : Harper 1, Cowan 2, Sutherland 3. Harper took the lead at the bend in the last lap, and won by three yards. Time, 2min 2scc.

One Mile Walk : C. Barr-Brown 1. Bell was disqualified at the end of the first round, Wilson in the fourth round, and Dickey in the straight, leaving only Barr-Brown in. Time, 6.i54. High Jump : Harrier and C. Laurie, dead heat, 3ft bin ; E. Laurie, sft 4in, 3. 220 Yards : Webster 1, Keating 2, Marriott 3. Webster jumped away at the start and led ail the way, and won by throo yards. Time, 2-1 4-5. Mile F’lat : Simpson 1, Sutherland 2, Hansen 3. AVon easily by thirty yards. Time, 4.44 4-5. Putting the AVeight: Madill 1, Fisher 2, O'Connor 3. Distance, 39ft.

120 Yards Hurdles : Smith 1, Harper r 2. AVon easily by ten yards, Laurie did not finish. Time, 16. 440 Yards Flat : AVebster 1, Stalker 2, Harper 3. Scratched : Cuff. AVebster won easily by five yards. Time, 02 4-5. Throwing the Hammer : Madill, 127 ft, 1 ; O’Connor, 2. Long Jump : Harper, 19ft bin, 1 ; Laurie, 19ft 5 A in, 2 ; Thompson, 18ft 7:(in, 3. Tho small jump was accounted for by tho bad take off.

Three Mile Walk : Wilson 1, BarrBrown 2, Dickoy 3. Wilson began to walk away at the end of the second mile, and won by 200 yards. Tirno, 22.46. Pole Jump : C. C. Laurie, 10ft, 1 ; Laurie was the only competitor, and stopped on clearing the standard. Three Milo Flat : W. F. Simpson 1, F. Sutherland 2, ,T. 11. Kelly 3. Pentecost did no start. Won by 150 yards. Time, 16.10. 400 Yards Hurdles : G. W. Smith 1, A. S. Henderson 2, C. S. Harper 3. E. J. Harper also started. Won by four yards. Time, 61 1-0. The following have been chosen to represent New Zealand in the Australasian Championships to-morrow, and on Saturday : 100 Yards —G. W. Smith, Smith, S. Heald, L. B. Webster. 220 Yards—L. B. Webster, G. W. Smith, A. O. Keating. 440 Yards—L. B. Webster and T. Stalker. Half-Mile—E. T. Harper and C. O. Cowan. One Mile —W. F. Simpson and E. Sutherland. Three Miles—W. F. Simpson and E.
