By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, last night. The Conciliation Board opened its sitting at Palmerston North to-day, and is considering the tailors’ and engine drivers' disputes.

• Wellington, last night. Tho 14-vear-old son of Mr G. S. Clark, of Pahiatua, while riding a bicycle, was run over by a milk-van at Pahiatua, and died from his injuries. Christchurch, last night. His Excellency the Governor left for Wellington by the Tutanekai this morning.

Dunedin, last night. The Union in the furniture trade dispute are taking steps to have tho case removed direct to the Arbitration Court. At the close of Mr Ellis’s meeting the following resolutions were carried : “ That, in view of the growth of the public debt of the general Government and of local bodies, this meeting is of the opinion that the Government of New Zealand should assume the functions of banking ; that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to tbe Colonial Treasurer and members for Dunedin city ; that the Trades Council of Dunedin be requested to organise meetings in the suburbs of the city, and to communicate with tho labor bodies throughout the colony, with a view to ovoking public interest in favor of a state bank for Now Zealand.”
