'Wellington, last night.

| Preparations are being made by the | Education Department- for the changes instituted by the Public School Teachers' Act ICCI ''ndnr the Act. the salary of a school teacher will be governed by tne previous year's attendance, and in place of Education Boards being paid Ad lbs per child in monthly instalments on an average attendance, they will receive a monthly payment of a twelfth part of their salary-sheet for the year. At the beginning of the year, the Boards will submit to the Department particulars of the salaries which they propose to pay, and subsequently they will make returns of the actual amounts so paid.
