THE QUEENSLAND CUP.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, Dec. 10. The Queensland Cup resulted as follows:—Drako 1, Narello 2, Guiding Star 3. Won by half a neck, after a desperate finish, a neck between second and third. Time, 3.31}. Betting: 3to 1 Circe, sto 1 Wonga, 8 to 1 Drako.

WOODVILLE RACES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Woodvillc, lust night. Heavy rain fell yesterday, but to-day dawned beautifully fine, and there was a large attendance at the opening day of tbe District Jockey Club’s Summer Meeting. There were large fields in all races, and some of the finest finishes over seen on the Woodville courso were witnessed. Just as the last race was being run, heavy

rain again fell, but the prospects are lino for to-morrow. The following are the results :

Trial Hack : Fleka 1, Try One 2, Frost 3. All started. Time 1.45 2-5, divs, £2 17s and H2 17s.

Hurdles: Kauwhakaroa 1. Cobra 2, Mangatera 3. Won easily. Time 3.30, divs. £2 8s and HI 10s.

Grandstand Handicap : la 1, Blackwmg 2, Caleita 3. Onutae and Valkyrie were scratched. Time 1.33 2-ssec, divs. ill 11s and 16s.

Woodville Handicap : Queen’s Guardi, Motor 2, Te Pake 3. A most exciting finish ; won on tho post. Tune 2.13 1-5, divs. £3 6s and ill 18s.

Flying Handicap: la 1, Pure Silver 2, Sir Redvers 3. Fleka was scratched. Won very easily. Time, 1.16 1-5, divs. HI 13s and £1 Is.

Borough Handicap : Mongonui 1, Blaekwing 2, Torowai 8. Won comfortably by a couple of lengths. Time 1.31 3-5, divs. Hl6 17s and £2 3s. Assayer was scratched. Welter Handicap : Frost 1, Inspan 2, Greygown 3. Hinekoa and St. Rone, wero scratched. Time 2.23 1-5, divs. £1 15s and U2 9s. Electric Handicap : Te Pake 1, Torowai 2, Mongonui 0. Beddington, Rossella, and Laetitia, with Solus, went on tho course proper outside the hurdles, canteriug round and breaking away from tho mile and quarter mark. Each went pleasingly. Jewellery went a short five furlongs alone on the tan in 1.21. Nonette and Coronet were associated in a gallop outside the hurdles on the course proper, which would bo considered over a mile and five furlongs. The gallop was an even pace one. Nouette, who had feather weight up, finished in front of Coronet. St. Ursula, on tho tan, galloped rather bettor than a mile and a quarter, having SL Olga to run home with her. Bluejacket was an absentee, and is reported to be amiss ; consequent on the report the son of St. Leger receded to 10 to 1 in the Cup betting. ' '
