MAGISTERIAL ENQUIRY.

STRIKING OF THE ICOTUKU. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. A magisterial inquiry was held to-day into tho circumstances Connected with the striking of the lvotuku, between Jackson’s Plead and Walker ltock. Captain Kennedy stated that he had often taken the passage before. The tides in the neighborhood were erratic, and after his recent experience he would not recommend boats steaming less than ten knots to attempt to pass. In this instance the lvotuku was carried bodily by the tide on to the rock, where she remained three and a-half hours.

The Court will give its decision on Thursday.
