THE CONTEST FOR CAVERSHAM,
By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Jasfc night. At a meeting of the Workers’ Political Committee, a ballot was taken as to the candidate to be put forward for Caversham. Four names were submitted, and. P. J. Halley was eventually selected. Mr Hailey is at present a member of tho Conciliation Board.
Mr H. D. Ledford, a candidate for the Caversham seat, addressed the electors this evening, and had a good hearin". Ho would, he said, give general support to Government measures. He would support rating on unimproved values, and is a prohibitionist. By request no vote waspassed,
