HEALTH LECTURES.

A lecture of great public interest is to be given this evening in the Theatre Royal. It is the first of a series of lectures to be given by Mrs Bracher, the Government lecturer on hygiene. The subject is, “ The Prevention of Consumption,” which must have a deep interest for everyone in the community. Anyone who feels the least concern for the general health ol the community knows how important is the question of preventing consumption in our midst. The great conference recently held attracted attention right throughout the world. It was held by specialists that with due attention to causes humanity could in two or three generations rid itself of tuberculosis. Whether or not that contention can he accepted readily, there is no doubt that the great proportion of consumptive diseases might with proper care he prevented. Mrs Bracher, who is to deal with the subject this evening, is possessed of the highest credentials, and is an Associate of the Sanitary Institute, London. His Worship the Mayor will preside at the lecture to night, and lantern illustrations will hi made use of.
