Invercargill,' last night. The Supreme Court sittings opened beforo Judge Denniston, who congratulated the Grand Jury and the district on tho unprecedented position in tho total absence of criminal cases. The Registrar, followin" a time-honored custom, presented the Jud"o with a pair of white gloves. Fivo Grand Jurors who failed to appear were fined £.5 each, and tho Court is now engaged with a case, Win. Domigan v. T. an action for specific performance of an agreement to sell land, and damages for non-performance. There are only civil cases. Tho sitting is not likely to last more than two days.
