Cussens 23 Albert Adair 16 Dixon 22 Ferris 7 Hookey 20 McGowan 19 Messrs Ponsford and McGowan, representing Gisborne, challenged Messrs Witty and Bright, as Haiti representatives, to a match of two fifteen-head games and alternate skips, with the result that Kaiti scored in the two games 35 to Gisborne’s 24, the first fifteen being 19 to 5, and the second 16 to 19.
Mr Ponsford then challenged Mr Witty to a single 15-head contest, but the champion skip was again defeated by “ Rip Van Winkle,” who was in splendid form, and who came home a winner after a closelycontested match, in which there were several very good heads played, by 12 to 9.
