EARTHQUAKES.

BAD TIMES AT CHEVIOT.

[by telegraph, press association.] Wellington, last night.

This morning’s advices from Cheviot state that another severe shock of earthquake was felt at 1.18 a.m., and there wore also several tremors.

Auckland, last night,

In conversation with a Star representative last week about the earthquake at Cheviot, Mr J. T. Stevenson, F.8.A.5., ventured the opinion that the shocks would continue this week owing to the position of the moon and planets with respect to our earth’s position. The prediction has so far been fulfilled, as continual shocks have been felt, some of a severe nature. As the critical period ends during the present week, no further disturbances should occur from the cause mentioned.
