POVERTY BAY CLUB. 0 v Saturday evening a rate took place bctu veil crews of which the respective strokes were J. Webb and J. Smith. The race was a splendid one, Webb’s erew winning by a quarter of a length. Soon I alter the race started Smith’s crew ! touched a mudbimk, and thus lost about a length, which was very important with such a close tinish. '['he following trial fours have been selected for a competition to be rowed shortly before Christmas : J. Smith (str.), A. Pool (3), Boyle (2), Arch Pool (bow). ,i. Pool (str.), AT. McLeod (3), F. Clarke (2), S. Ledger (bow). Arch. Kirk (str.), A. W. Kirk (3), J. Parker (2). 11. Smith (bow). ,J. Webb (str.), Bennett (3), C. Lowndes (2), Tate (bowl. H. Burns (str.), McGovern (3), Lewis (2), B. Power (bow). The members of the Club intend holiday their annual picnic as usual on Now Year's Day.
