General Barrera, leading the Liberal party’s troops in Columbia, cut the telegraph wires and railway s, and surprised and captured Colon, after two hours’ fighting. Twelve Government troopers were killed and thirty wounded. In response to an invitation from the proper authorities, 100 American bluojackets occupied the railway station to prevent the interruption of traffic. The Government troops at Panama aro advancing to attack the Liberals in the vicinity of Panama.
