Temple of Beauty.
TO EDUCATE FRENCH TASTE. Paris, Oct. 5. The Journal, of this city, announces that it will erect a permanent Temple of Beauty, where the handsomest women applicants from all countries will be paid salaries and kept on constant exhibition, dressed in appropriate costumes under the direction of the most famous artists. It is presumed that the ranks will have to be constantly recruited, as good marriages undoubtedly will tempt “exhibits” to leave in rapid succession, The purpose of the temple is the same as that of a museum where only statues and paintings are shown—namely, to educate arid gratify the public taste and also to destroy the prejudice which permits the irresistible, absurd sway of fashion makers instead of artistic freedom in dressing according to one’s personality.
