Sir—The remarks of your correspondent “ Downtrodden Carpenter” in your Thursday’s issue can be endorsed by the majority of carpenters in this district, and your correspondent deserves the thanks and support o:E all his fellow-workmen. But what about the others who are to a great extent in the same position as the carpenters ? There are competent tradesmen'working for six and seven shillings a day of eight hours : if they object, they are told to go elsewhere.
